Ingredients

  • 1 1/8 cupswater, warm
  • 2 tbspvegetable oil
  • 1/2 tspsugar
  • 1 1/2 tspsalt
  • 3 cupsall-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 1/2 tspinstant yeast

Method

  1. 1

Place all ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the Dough cycle and press Start. Alternatively, combine and knead by hand for 10 minutes, then leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  2. 2

When the dough cycle is nearly complete, heat the oven to 475°F with baking sheets or a baking stone inside.

  3. 3

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 8 equal pieces and form into rounds. Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.

  4. 4

Roll each piece into a thin flat circle about 8 inches in diameter. Cook 2 at a time on the preheated baking sheets or stone until puffed and golden, about 5 minutes. Repeat for all remaining rounds.
