Iced Coffee
Brewed double strength and crashed straight onto ice, so it chills without going watery.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ozground coffee, medium grind
- 1 2/3 cupsboiling water
- 14 ozice cubes
- 5/8 cupwhole milk, cold
- 2 tspgranulated sugar, optional
Method
- 1
Brew the ground coffee with the boiling water however you normally would — drip, French press, pour-over. This is roughly double the coffee you would use for the same water hot, and it is meant to taste too strong on its own.
- 2
If you want it sweet, stir the sugar into the hot coffee now. Sugar will not dissolve properly once the coffee is cold, and undissolved sugar sits in the bottom of the glass doing nothing.
- 3
Fill two tall glasses to the top with the ice cubes and pour the hot coffee straight over. It will crackle and some ice will melt — that melt is the water the coffee was brewed without.
- 4
Top up with the cold milk and stir once. Drink it before the rest of the ice goes.
